Old Town Ale House in Ballard is a place we frequented before we even lived in Ballard. Part of this reason I suppose could be that it’s right across from our gym, and yes, we would go and have a beer immediately after working out. Most likely though (because we don’t go to the gym as often as we should), the reason for our affinity is because they consistently have great beers on tap, and always three rotating taps. The food selection is also good and doesnt suffer from the typical ale house fault (great beer, mediocre food at best). The menu offers a lot of variation and the fries are generously seasoned. The staff is also casual and friendly, easy to talk to and really knowledgeable. It’s so fun we actually took the above picture the day that we did, because the beer listed second, the Rodenbach Grand Cru, was so delicious and we can remember it this way. It’s a sour, which we realized we actually like a lot, and this one really tastes like there is a little sprightly party going on with each sip, as it feels light and very carbonated. We will constantly be on the lookout for this beer. This is a fun place to go sit at the bar with one other person on a Sunday afternoon, when growlers are offered at half price.
